Smack in Da Middle - Fresno's International Bike Polo Tournament

Community means something different to everyone but collectively, all of the small communities create the culture of our city. Tea & Sara of @Pedal_Junkies have been in love with the sport of Bike Polo for over a decade, and in that passion and pursuit have created a family and brought international renown to Fresno through their yearly tournament: Smack in Da Middle.

From the moment he first tried the sport, Tea was hooked. Pretty quickly, Tea & Sara started hosting a weekly bike polo night and it started to take off from there. Traveling around the state to play, getting deeper into the scene, the Smack in Da Middle tournament was born from Fresno's central location with it's first iteration in 2012.

Pedal Junkies started hosting community bike rides back in 2010. Soon, they became involved with the Fresno County Bicycle Coalition, advocating for cycling with Fresno City Council and working with BPAC (Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee) to help improve safety in our city.

The love of all things bicycles runs deep with these two, and their constant championing of the community is a tremendous example of what Fresno has to offer as a city of inclusiveness.
